- Skip your morning coffee or anything caffeinated for a few hours before your appointment. Caffeine can make your eyelids twitch or flutter involuntarily, and even small movements make precise isolation much harder for me to do safely.
- Use the restroom right before we start. Once you are settled in with eye pads on, getting up mid application disrupts the placement and adds time to your appointment.
- Wear something comfortable. You will be lying on your back, mostly still, for over an hour. Soft layers, no stiff collars, and if you tend to get cold, feel free to bring a light sweater.
What to Avoid 24 Hours Before Your Lash Appointment
A few things need more than just a same day heads up. In the twenty four hours before your appointment, skip waterproof mascara entirely, it clings stubbornly to the lash line and takes much longer to remove thoroughly, which eats into your appointment time and can irritate the eye area. Avoid using an eyelash curler on your natural lashes right before you come in as well. Curling changes the natural bend of the lash, and I need to see your true, unaltered lash direction to map extensions that sit naturally and comfortably.
I also always ask clients to hold off on lash tinting or lash lifts and perms right before extensions. These treatments use chemicals that change the lash structure, and applying extensions immediately after can weaken the natural lash or affect how well the adhesive holds. If you love getting a lash tint, that is completely fine, just space it out from your extension appointment by at least a few days so your lashes have time to settle.
